High School Art Class

This is a six weeks class with the goal of learning that painting with  watercolor is a lot of fun.  I will teach 5 different watercolor techniques, basic pen and ink styles and color theory.  For $11.00 I can purchase the materials needed to succeed at this class.  At the bottom of this page is a broken down list of the costs in case you already have the supplies on hand.  If you plan on supplying your own paints and brushes, I can not stress enough, the importance of giving your child GOOD QUALITY materials.  There are a lot of worthless watercolor  paints out there. So often students tell me that they can not paint, and when I see what they have to work with, then I know why.  There will also be a  $5.00/ class instruction fee.  Thirty dollars for a 6 week class.  If you have more than one child, any additional child is $25.

The only home work for the class will be to occasionally bring a visual aid such as a picture or a model of something of interest.  I will also try and introduce the next week's project at the end of each lesson so that they have time to think and plan about the next class, so thinking and planning will be required also. If a student runs out of time in class they will be allowed to take things home to finish.

Hopefully at the end of six weeks your child will have 4 paintings and perhaps a hand painted greeting card or two that they will be proud to call their own. More then just these physical signs of accomplishment, I hope that your child will have learned some artistic techniques and confidence along with a love for art.

If you have any questions please direct them to Gloria Sherman @ 660-351-4874 or hedgerow7@hotmail.com.

Tentative 6 Week Schedule

Grade School Art Class

This is a six week class with the goal of not only teaching a few art concepts, but also with the goal of learning (through experience) that drawing and painting can be very rewarding and fun. The $5.00 materials fee covers the cost of the paper, brushes and pastels. Each student will also need a set of good quality watercolor paints.  If I need to obtain those for you also, that would add $3.75 to the materials cost.  The reason I did not include the paint in the cost is because that is something that a lot of people already have on hand, but I can not stress enough that you need to give your child a GOOD QUALITY paint to work with.  There are a lot of worthless watercolor paint sets out there. So often students tell me that they can't paint, and when I see what they are trying to use then I know why. Prang is a good quality, inexpensive watercolor paint-$3.75 gets you an eight pan set with a nice brush.

In addition to the materials cost, I am also charging a $5.00/class instruction fee.  Thirty dollars for a six week class.  If you have more than one child, any additional child is $25.  My hopes is that your child can walk away from this class with 5 pieces of art that they are proud to call their own. Also, they will  have their own set of watercolor paints and the knowledge on how to use them...just add paper and see what you get.

There will not be any home work for this class, however I will occasionally ask the students to bring some visual aids to class:  pictures or models of things that they like or are interested in. The more visual things they have to draw from, the better and easier their experience will be, so why not have them bring things that interest them. If your child runs out of time in class—finishing at home is a good option.

If you have any questions please direct them to Gloria Sherman @ 660-351-4874 or hedgerow7@hotmail.com.
