In the marketing class we handed out a two page outline.
The first section was establishing viewpoints on finances, employment and
business ownership.
If you would like to take that section to the next level you can have your
child interview the owner of a small business via phone or in person.
This process will teach them interviewing, note taking and studying behaviors.
Sample homework:
Light: Have them call for an interview and take notes
Difficult: have them conduct the interview and write a summary report with
personal observation.
The second section was a list of basic words that we discussed the definition
and application in business.
Sample homework:
Light: Have them look up the definition for each word or write a summary from
what they learned in class.
Difficult: Have them find an example of each word in use currently in a
business or describe how they would use each of those things in their own
business.
The third section we worked on creating a business idea or honing in the
current business plan that each student has.
We want those answers to develop the beginning thought process of the business
they will start or their current business structure. This questionnaire will
begin to form the concept of viability or let them know if modification is
needed.
Coming next week with the answers will allow us to start group discussions
about viability.
If you already have a business you can start on your specific business
details.
What are your COGS? (Cost of goods)
What do you charge?
What is your profit?
How much time is in each product?
There was a question asked about services...
If you have a service or virtual product just insert that term into the
question where the word product is located.
